Wine Align – 91pts – Michael Godel
It may be argued that Rosomel Vineyard is the top cru for growing apt grapes to find their way into Bordeaux-styled Ontario whites. It could equally be argued that the interpretation at Hidden Bench with Fumé Blanc (and Nuit Blanche) are so successful as per the past and incumbent winemakers’ prerogative. Casting hearsay evidence aside, trying to judge or perform perforative investigations matters not because truth of the matter asserted concerns agriculture and viticulture, both of which are performed by the acts of yeoman work. While 2018 Rosomel Fumé Blanc is a bit subdued it carries the year to year torch all the way to pay-dirt. Provides enough stuffing and executes fruit in commitment with its chaperone of acids, plus a plethora of character defining details with commendable precision and accuracy. Never wavering this one. Drink 2020-2025. Tasted May 2020.
