2008 Felseck Gewurtztraminer
Bright, golden straw colour with a vibrant nose of lavender, ginger and honey. The generous and luscious palate shows lovely ginger, lavender and fresh lychees. This concentrated and rich wine has a cleansing acidity with a persistent and sustained finish. This terroir driven wine has aromas, flavours and structure that are a true reflection of the Felseck vineyard and the Beamsville Bench.
We exposed all bunches to sunlight at fruit set with leaf removal on both sides of the canopy to maximize fruit ripening. Green harvest was performed at the first sign of veraison and we left only 12 bunches per vine to promote fruit ripening, concentration of flavours and expression of the Beamsville Bench terroir.
The grapes were handpicked, sorted and lightly whole bunch pressed. The juice was cold settled and then racked. The wine was fermented slowly at low temperatures in a small stainless steel tank. Late pressings were fermented separately and we then blended them back to add mid-palate weight and structure. The wine was filtered before bottling.
