This wine has a youthful red-brick colour and it has a lifted complex nose showing beetroot, sour cherry, raspberry, leather and grilled almonds. The 2006  Estate Pinot Noir is medium bodied with a fleshy mid palate and focused acidity and fine grainy tannins. The Palate shows good concentration of beetroot and sour cherry with some cedar notes.

Winemaker's Notes

As for all Hidden Bench white wines, the grapes were handpicked and double sorted. The grapes were cold soaked for 8 days. We fermented the wine with native yeast  in three small batches. They were then hand plunged one to four times a day and the wine was drained by gravity directly into the barrels.

This Pinot Noir spent 12 months in one year old French Oak barrel and was aged a further 5 months in tanks. The wine was neither pumped or filtered and no fining agents were used.
