2006 Syrah / Malbec

This wine has a deep red brick colour. Lifted blueberries on the nose with aromas of blackberries, freshly cracked black pepper and sweet almond paste. A medium bodied wine with a fleshy palate and soft, silky tannins, the wine has flavours of blackberries, beetroots, black olives and cured meat. This elegant and food friendly wine has lively acidity and a generous, sustained finish.

WINEMAKING COMMENTS:

All the fruit was handpicked and separately bunch and berry sorted as well. The components of the blend were fermented separately in small batches ad 15% of the juice from every cuvee was drained from the skins to improve colour, structure and intensity of flavours. We gently hand-plunged the grapes during fermentation and the wine spent 14-16 days on skin and was then aged for 16 months in French oak prior to bottling without fining or filtration.
